BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Sidney Crosby still has Ryan Millers number after scoring a highlight-reel go-ahead goal in Pittsburghs 5-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night. Thats fine with Penguins coach Dan Bylsma, so long as that trend doesnt continue once the Winter Games open next week. "I was cheering the goal this time," said Bylsma, who will be switching hats in Sochi, where he will be coaching Miller on the U.S. team. "It did dawn on me as Sid was going in and he scores that goal." Crosby, Canadas captain, had a goal and assist in a pre-Olympic tuneup in which the Eastern Conference-leading Penguins (40-15-2) set a franchise record by reaching 40 wins in 57 games. That eclipsed the previous mark of 40 wins in 65 games in 1995-96. Evgeni Malkin, James Neal, Brian Gibbons and minor-league call-up Harry Zolnierczyk also scored in a game the Penguins overcame a 1-0 deficit. Drew Stafford scored for the NHLs worst team, and Miller finished with 29 saves. Buffalo (15-33-8) dropped to 4-9-4 in its past 17 and winless in its last eight home games (0-5-3). Thats the Sabres worst home stretch since opening the season 0-8-1. For Crosby, he scored his first goal in six games and also ended a two-game point drought. That it happened against Buffalo and Miller shouldnt come as a surprise. Crosby has at least a point in all 14 trips to Buffalo (9 goals and 13 assists). And he has been particularly sharp at beating Miller, including the gold-medal winning overtime goal in Canadas 3-2 victory at the Vancouver Games four years ago. "He made some big saves tonight," Crosby said in defence of Miller. "Cant blame him. He held his team in it. And we scored some nice goals." The performance didnt sit well with Miller, but he doesnt think it will carry over to the Olympics. "Its game-by-game. Stuff happens out there and you reset," Miller said. Sabres coach Ted Nolan had his goalies back. "That had nothing to do with Ryan tonight," Nolan said. "It was the guys in front of him. Our team, we need everyone. We had a couple of guys no-show tonight." That was evident on Crosbys goal, which came on the power play 2:08 into the second period, and put the Penguins up 2-1. Immediately after Marc-Andre Fleury stopped Buffalos Brian Flynn in close, Crosby circled his own net and built up a head of steam by driving up the left wing. Accepting Matt Niskanens pass while crossing centre, Crosby didnt break stride in cutting between Flynn and Mike Weber. He then drove toward the net and snapped a shot just inside the top right corner. Neal joked that hes seen Crosby score goals like that so many times that he didnt even celebrate, but instead simply headed to the bench. Miller had no chance some 17 minutes later, when Malkin scored on the breakaway. Pouncing on Marcus Folignos turnover inside the Penguins blue line, Malkin streaked past flat-footed defender Jamie McBain. Driving in alone on Miller, he faked going right and went left to deposit the puck in the open side. Miller is one of the three U.S. goalies selected to play at Sochi, and the game against the Penguins was regarded his last chance to make a firsthand impression on Bylsma. Bylsma has yet to name his starter, and maintained that Millers performance on Wednesday would have no influence on his decision. Miller was coming off his worst outing of the season. He was benched after giving up five goals on 27 shots through two periods in a 7-1 loss at Colorado on Saturday. He allowed three goals on 28 shots through two periods before the floodgates opened in the third. Gibbons scored off a face off, and Neal on a transition break. "The first period we werent very sharp," Crosby said. "Yeah, we took a little bit of time to get going, but once we did, I felt like we did grab a lot of momentum there." NOTES: The Sabres played without D Tyler Myers, who hurt his right leg in a 3-2 loss to Edmonton on Monday. Coach Ted Nolan has not ruled out Myers from playing in their pre-Olympic break finale at Ottawa on Thursday. ... Zolnierczyk stepped into the lineup a day after being recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He replaced Taylor Pyatt (lower body), who was hurt in a 2-1 overtime win over Ottawa on Monday. ... The Penguins completed a three-game series sweep of the Sabres, and improved to 12-4 in their past 16 meetings. Taylor Lewan Authentic Jersey . Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans ended up with the bigger problem. Delanie Walker . David Griffin was promoted from interim GM on Monday by owner Dan Gilbert. He says Irving was not consulted on Browns future and any insinuation that he pushed to have him fired is "patently false. http://www.shopthetitansonline.com/Elite-Dexter-Mc...ns-Jers ey/ . The 11-year NBA veteran scored 18 of his 28 points in the third quarter and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Phoenix Suns 104-96 Tuesday to match their season best of five victories in a row. Ryan Succop Authentic Jersey . The judges scored it 49-46, 49-46, 50-45 for Kennedy. Wrestling proved to be the difference with Kennedy taking Bisping down in the first, third and fifth rounds and keeping him there. The crowd at the Colisee Pepsi didnt like it and neither did Bisping, whose game is built on movement and technical striking. Zach Mettenberger Jersey . He leaves as a potential first overall pick, and one of the most dynamic, breath-taking players in college football history.CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls were open all over the floor, so Joakim Noah kept collecting assists. Jumpers for Jimmy Butler and Kirk Hinrich. A dunk for Taj Gibson, another jumper for Butler, and on and on it went. The All-Star centre put on quite a show. Noah had 14 assists in his fifth career triple-double, leading the streaking Bulls to a 109-90 victory over the New York Knicks on Sunday. "Its really all my teammates," he said. "I think were getting better every game." Noah also had 13 points and 12 rebounds in his second triple-double of the season, but it was his deft passing that really stood out. It was the most assists by an NBA centre since at least the 1985-86 season and a franchise record for his position. "What can you say? He is playing MVP basketball," Gibson said. "He is doing everything in all facets of the game." Chicago had seven players score in double figures and set a franchise record by committing only three turnovers in its ninth win in the last 10 games. The Bulls also reached 100 points for the fourth consecutive game for the first time since Oct. 30-Nov. 5, 2010. D.J. Augustin had 21 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter as Chicago (33-26) improved to 21-8 since Jan. 1 and a season-high seven games above .500 overall. Butler scored 19 points and Carlos Boozer had 14. "Weve hit a stretch where we have guys that are healthy playing that I think they know what to expect from each other," coach Tom Thibodeau said. "I think theyre playing to their strengths." While the Bulls are galloping through the weak Eastern Conference, the Knicks are floundering. Carmelo Anthony scored 21 points and Tyson Chandler had 22 rebounds, but New York dropped its sixth consecutive game. The Knicks (21-39) are just 6-16 since Jan. 14. "Its embarrassing," Anthony said. "Its frustrating and its embarrassing." Swingman Iman Shumpert had three points on 1-for-6 shooting in his return to the lineup. He missed five games after he sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee during New Yorks 98-91 victory over New Orleans on Feb. 19. Noah rolled his right ankle at the beginning of the second half and got it re-taped before comingg back in at the start of the fourth quarter.dddddddddddd He heard more chants of "M-V-P! M-V-P!" when he went 1 for 2 at the line to make it 89-70 with 9:26 to go. There were more loud cheers when Jimmer Fredette checked in with 3:08 left after joining the Bulls earlier in the day. The sharp-shooting guard drilled a long jumper on his first shot, making it 107-83 with 2:16 remaining. Fredette, the 10th overall pick in the 2011 draft, was bought out by Sacramento on Thursday and cleared waivers on Saturday. His contract with the Bulls covers the rest of the season. "It was great. I mean, these guys did a great job the whole game and got a big lead and I was able to get into the game," Fredette said. Led by Noah, the Bulls jumped all over the Knicks right at the start. He capped Chicagos opening 16-1 run with a driving layup and rebound tip-in. It just kept getting worse for New York, which shot 32 per cent from the field in the first quarter. Butler scored 10 points and also found Gibson for a big dunk as Chicago jumped to a 37-16 lead, setting a season high for points for the opening period. "They came out with more energy than we did, took advantage of us," Chandler said. "On the defensive end, backdoor cuts that pretty much changed the game." The lead grew to 25 early in the second before Anthony and Amare Stoudemire started to heat up. Anthony made a nice pass to Stoudemire for a reverse layup that got New York within nine with 3:33 to go. Anthony drove the baseline for a smooth jam, but Noah found Butler for a jumper that lifted Chicago to a 59-48 halftime lead. Noah had 11 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds at the break. "You cant come on the road and start like that and expect to win," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. NOTES: Anthony has said he plans to become a free agent this summer, and there was at least one sign calling on him to come to Chicago. "I cant see next year," Anthony said. "I cant even see tomorrow at this point." ... Stoudemire and Tim Hardaway Jr. had 14 points apiece for New York. ... The Bulls improved to 14-2 this season when they score 100 or more points. ... The Bulls and Knicks have one more scheduled meeting, on April 13 in New York. ' ' '
