PHILADELPHIA -- Wayne Simmonds looked as if he went a few rounds in a heavyweight fight. Cheap Manchester United Jerseys . His mouth busted open because of an errant puck in warmups, Simmonds needed 25 stitches in his upper and lower lips. He was bloodied, a couple of teeth were knocked around, and he felt numb. He even played with a full face shield for extra protection. His numbers sure looked pretty, though. Simmonds scored two goals after he was blasted in the face with a puck, and Max Talbot also scored twice, leading the Philadelphia Flyers to a 7-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. Simmonds had no comment after one of his best games of the season. He wasnt being rude -- Simmonds was too swollen and stitched up to speak. His teammates were proud of the way he gutted it out after taking the puck to the face in the pregame skate. "Hes a warrior," goalie Ilya Bryzgalov said. Simmonds scored twice and Erik Gustafsson scored his first career NHL goal as part of a four-goal second period for the Flyers. That surge bailed out goalie Bryzgalov, who allowed two goals in the first. Jakub Voracek and Scott Hartnell added goals in the third for the Flyers to turn this one into a rout. Claude Giroux had five assists and Hartnell had three. Simmonds was hit in warmups and joined the bench minutes into the first period. Simmonds, who already has a career high in goals, scored consecutive goals in the second for a 3-2 lead. Sabres goalie Jhonas Enroth was yanked after allowing three straight goals. Ryan Miller allowed one to Gustafsson, giving the Flyers four goals on their first 10 shots of the period. The Flyers snapped a two-game losing streak and won for only the second time in the last seven games, a rough patch that had dropped them 10 points behind the New York Rangers in the Atlantic Division. Usually one of the top home teams in the NHL, the Flyers improved to only 14-9-5 in Philadelphia. "Were a hard team to play against when were moving north and skating hard," coach Peter Laviolette said. The Flyers won without Jaromir Jagr (flu), James van Riemsdyk (concussion), Zac Rinaldo (suspension), and they lost centre Danny Briere (upper-body injury) and winger Tom Sestito (lower-body injury) during the game. There was no immediate word if any of those injured players would return Saturday against Pittsburgh. Rinaldo served the first of a two-game suspension for launching to hit Detroit Red Wings defenceman Jonathan Ericsson. They almost lost Simmonds after the freak pregame hit. Simmonds, who has 20 goals, gave the Flyers the scoring punch they needed to hold off Buffalo. Bryzgalov, who was been very mediocre in his first season in Philly, allowed fast goals in the first to Jason Pominville and Thomas Vanek for the 2-0 lead. Pominville scored off a nice cross-ice pass from Tyler Myers and Vaneks slapper whizzed past Bryzgalov. It was a rare dose of instant offence for a Sabres team that had scored only 132 goals, 26th in the NHL. Bryzgalov was booed after letting in Vaneks goal and the Flyers were jeered off the ice into the first intermission. That was the end of the fun for Buffalo. "This time of year, its unacceptable to get a lead like that and blow it," Pominville said. "In the first, we had control, we generated chances and didnt give up much. Then the momentum changed sides. Thats when you have to lock in and play better." Talbot made it 2-1 when he redirected Braydon Coburns shot only 54 seconds into the period. Simmonds scored off a rebound for a power-play goal to tie the game, then put them ahead with his 20th. "He does what he does best," Giroux said. "In front of the net, no one can move him." Bryzgalov toughened up and made 27 saves. Buffalo coach Lindy Ruffs decision to give Miller a rare rest backfired. Not only did he need to use his star goalie, but Miller got roughed up. Voraceks sweet drop pass to Gustafsson for the goal made it 4-2 and those boos had turned into a roaring ovation from another packed house. Talbot scored again in the third, and the public address announcer was still talking about the goal when Voracek scored. Hartnell scored his team-high 27th goal and the rout was in full blast. Ruff shook his head in disgust and rubbed his eyes. He was back behind the bench for the second since breaking three ribs during a collision with a player in practice. He must have wished he sat this one out. "Thats about as bad as you can play defensively," he said. Notes: The Flyers acquired Swedish defenceman Nicklas Grossman from Dallas in exchange for a 2012 second-round pick and a 2013 third-round pick. Grossman, six-foot-four and 230 pounds, has five assists in 52 games this season. ... Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said there is no timetable for van Riemsdyks return. He has been out a month with a concussion. "I think now it just comes down to how James is feeling and when he feels ready," Holmgren said. Cheap Barcelona Jersey . The opener of the four-game series was called off after rain began in the afternoon. The wet weather was expected to continue for most of the day, with temperatures in the 30s and 20 mph winds. Nike Free Run Hombre Baratas . Testaverde is one of 12 former players to be picked by the National Football Foundation as part of the latest Hall of Fame class. http://www.airmaxbaratas-es.com/ . "But theyre not 20 points better than us," Jefferson said after Utahs 110-90 loss to the Blazers on Monday night. Cheap Dallas Cowboys Jerseys . Marmol, who lost his job as the Cubs closer last week, had given up a run on a hit and a walk in two-thirds of an inning. He had a 1-2 count on Corey Hart when catcher Wellington Castillo visited the mound and summoned manager Dale Sveum. jerseys from china . The Leafs will miss the postseason for the seventh consecutive season, officially eliminated from contention with their 10th consecutive loss on home ice, a 3-0 defeat by Cam Ward and the Carolina Hurricanes.NEW YORK - Even without their best hitters, the New York Mets are nothing but trouble for Cole Hamels. Scott Hairston, subbing for ailing all-star Carlos Beltran, hit a long homer and drove in a career-best five runs as New York hammered the Phillies ace yet again in an 11-2 victory Saturday. "I found out I was in the lineup right away, it gave me a couple of hours to prepare. I made sure I was ready," Hairston said. "Ive played in this role for the last few years. Its a very difficult role. I rely on that experience." Daniel Murphy also went deep and Jonathon Niese pitched seven strong innings to help the depleted Mets snap a three-game skid. Fielding a makeshift lineup minus its four biggest bats, New York rapped out 15 hits and improved to 4-7 this season against the NL East leaders, who own baseballs best record. Beltran sat out with the flu and a high fever, so manager Terry Collins inserted a not-so-secret weapon against Hamels (11-5). Hairston batted third in large part because he entered with a .353 career average (6 for 17) and three homers against the left-hander, one of Philadelphias three all-star starters. "When you have good numbers against an opponent, it gives you confidence. Confidence helps at the plate," Collins said. Those big numbers quickly ballooned even more. Hairston doubled his first two times up, driving in two runs and scoring one as New York built a 4-0 lead by the fourth. He hit a three-run shot off Danys Baez in the seventh to make it 11-2, a drive to left that sailed into the rarely reached second deck at spacious Citi Field. The offensive outburst was a surprise, especially because the Mets are also missing injured shortstop Jose Reyes, third baseman David Wright and first baseman Ike Davis. New York totalled 10 runs in its previous five games, an understandable slump considering the competition. Hamels was the fifth all-star starter the Mets faced in a span of six games, going 2-3. "I just wasnt hitting my spots," Hamels said. "Theyre a good team. Obviously theyre young, but at the same time you have to make pitches and I wasnt able to make pitches." Niese (9-7) allowed one earned run and six hits while striking out six and walking one. The left-hander, who leads the team in wins and is 9-4 in his last 15 starts, hardly ran into any trouble besides a bases-loaded jam in the seventh that he soon escaped. "He is getting tougher," Collins said. "Its as if hes saying were going to get back on track and Im going to take care of it." Murphy, who had three hits and two RBIs, opened the ffifth with his sixth home run to make it 5-0 -- and the Mets didnt stop there. wholesale jerseys. Jason Bay of Trail, B.C., singled and, one out later, lumbering Nick Evans hit a long drive to right for his second major league triple. Ruben Tejada grounded reliever David Herndons first pitch through a drawn-in infield for a 7-0 cushion. Hamels yielded seven earned runs, matching a career high, and eight hits in 4 1-3 innings while falling to 3-10 in 16 career games against New York. He lasted only 2 2-3 innings in a 7-1 loss to the Mets on April 5 and had dropped five consecutive starts against them before striking out 10 in a 5-2 victory May 28 at Citi Field. "Havent really been able to get a good roll against them," Hamels said. "Its kind of one of those games where you just want to throw it out." His demise Saturday came much to the delight of fans who remember that Hamels called the Mets "choke artists" in December 2008 after their second consecutive September collapse. Miscommunication on the Philadelphia infield made for an unlucky start for Hamels, whose earned-run average spiked from 2.32 to 2.71. Hairston doubled with two outs in the first and hustled home when Murphys harmless-looking popup dropped between first baseman Ryan Howard and second baseman Chase Utley, who both backed away as the ball descended. "Originally I called it and then it was kind of loud and I thought he said that he had it," said Howard, who sat staring into his locker, still in uniform, for a long while before hitting the showers. "I kind of saw him in the corner of my eye and heard him. He was saying my name and I mistook it for him saying that he got it, that he was calling me off." Howard got a derisive cheer when he gloved Evans foulout the next inning. NOTES: Phillies CF Shane Victorino (sprained right thumb) was set to begin a rehab assignment Saturday night with double-A Reading at Trenton. Philadelphia reliever Brad Lidge (strained rotator cuff) also was scheduled to appear in that game. ... Plate umpire Brian Gorman was hit on the left hand by a pitch from Hamels that bounced past Phillies C Carlos Ruiz. Gorman said X-rays were negative and the swelling had already decreased dramatically thanks to an anti-inflammatory patch applied by the Mets training staff. "Ill live," he said. ... Beltran was not at the ballpark and his status for Sunday was uncertain, Collins said. ... Pagan snapped an 0-for-17 slide with an infield single in the fifth. ... Hairston has four doubles off Hamels in 20 at-bats. ... Attendance was 41,166. ' ' '
