"I want it. cheap nfl jerseys ."Canadian diver Jennifer Abel does not mince words when she talks about the London 2012 Olympic Games. "I know what to expect now. I know what Olympics look like, so Im really ready to give everything that I can." Abel leaves for her second Olympic Games on Monday. At 20 years old, It seems improbable that she could already be an Olympic veteran -- at times Abel disbelieves it herself. But in 2008 at age 16, the Laval, Que., diver made her first Olympic team. It took a while to sink in. "Even when I was on the plane (to Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games) I was like, OK, somethings going to happen and they wont send me there. Im too young. Its impossible," said Abel. Already focused on London 2012 at the time, Beijing was simply outside her radar."It was so big for me. I said to myself, Your dream is going to come true four years earlier."The first time Abel approached the Olympic diving board during a Beijing training session, she was a wreck. She caught a glimpse of the Olympic rings that wavered from the bottom of the pool, and her eyes welled up with tears."I am going to be an Olympian at 16 years old," she thought to herself, the fact suddenly hitting home.Thinking she suffered from nerves or cold feet, her teammates tried to offer comfort. But Abel was overwhelmed not with the pressure, but with joy and hope instead."Maybe you can change your vision," she realized. "Just think about whats going to happen in 2012 if you make the team. Maybe you can have a medal. Maybe you can make the final. Maybe you can be better than what you are right now, because you are still young."Abel did make the Olympic diving team for London 2012, qualifying in the individual 3-metre springboard as well as the 3m synchro event with teammate Émilie Heymans. And there is no question that she is a better diver today than when she finished 13th four years ago in Beijing. Abels breakthrough year came in 2011. She earned two medals at the World Championships in Shanghai that year, and finished second overall in the international aquatics federations four-event World Series. Olympic bronze medallist Blythe Hartley competed with Abel at Beijing 2008. Now a diving analyst for CTVOlympics, she believes that Abels second Olympic appearance will be very different from her first. "This Olympics, she is a contender," Hartley said. "On the world scene, everybody considers her a medal threat. She has the ability to do her dives better than anybody in the world and although its a strong competition and there are a lot of contenders in the field, absolutely Jennifer is [one of them]."But with success, Abels world has changed. A relative unknown ahead of her first Games, today Abel is inundated by media requests and appearances. She presented an award at the 2012 Juno Awards; she is a PwC Canada-sponsored athlete; as a featured athlete in the Canadian Olympic Committees "Give Your Everything" campaign, her face fills the television screen and stares back from bus and subway stops."When youre a medal contender, there is a lot more pressure and expectation," warned Hartley. "There are more media demands, there are more elements to your Olympic training. And to [Jennifer], I give her so much credit because shes handled that so seamlessly. She seems to really thrive in that environment and enjoy it. Shes very aware that she is a medal contender, and shes not hiding from that."Abel appears comfortable on camera and has said she would like to work in television when her diving career comes to an end. Still, despite her calm exterior, she admits that she has felt the weight on her shoulders at times."I was [at Beijing 2008] for experience, and now Im [on the team to] get a good result. Its completely different... I am a little bit nervous," she told CTVOlympics.ca earlier this year.Abel chalks a rocky 2012 season up to those nerves. On the heels of her breakout 2011, she started the year with strength, capturing a silver medal in the synchronized event at Londons World Cup in February. Then things fell apart, and she dropped to fifth as an individual in World Series standings and fourth as a synchronized duo with Heymans. One dive in particular has been critical for Abel in both the individual and synchronized events this season. Her reverse 2.5 somersault in the pike position is third of five on her dive list, and she considers it her game making -- or breaking -- dive."This is the one I can hit for nines, or the one that I can miss. So Im pretty sure that if this dive is going well, the rest of my dives are going to be good too," she said.Hartley expects to see more hits than misses in London. Good divers have a special quality, she says, that enables them to pull off their best work when the stakes are highest. It is a trait that Abels veteran teammates, Heymans and Alexandre Despatie, have demonstrated time and again. Together, the two veterans have earned five Olympic medals throughout the past three Games. The is a trait that Abel is beginning to develop, too."Ive seen it in action. I absolutely believe (that she has it already)," Hartley said, pointing Abels recent synchronized performances with Heymans as an example."[Abel and Heymans] both thrive under adversity. Theyve had some less-than-ideal competitions this year, but they won a medal at World Cup and I think theyre feeling strong. They are such a strong team that I think they know they just have to continue to focus on training, and then it does come down to the five dives at the Olympics."Abel and Heymans showed improvement late in the season, winning gold in commanding fashion at a spring Grand Prix event in Montreal. More impressive than the colour of the medal was their score -- a season-high 323.40 points."I would say [Émilie and I] are probably in the better position that weve been for the whole year," Abel said of her final preparations ahead of the Games. "We are less nervous, we are having more fun, because now everything has been done. We are going officially to the Olympics, and were just doing our dives and getting closer to the perfect ten."Watch Jennifer Abel and Émilie Heymans in the womens 3m synchronized springboard event on July 29, and again in the womens individual springboard beginning on August 3. Those tricky calls arent being farmed out to technology quite yet.(Sports Network) - The Toronto Raptors have won four of their last seven games since a grueling eight-game losing streak and will play back-to-back road games against Miami and Washington. They are just 5-10 away from home this season. Toronto is coming off of Fridays 106-89 win over the Wizards at Air Canada Centre, as Leandro Barbosa scored a team-best 19 points and Amir Johnson posted 18 points and 13 rebounds. Barbosa was able to shake off flu-like symptoms and missed the teams shootaround. "It feels good, it was a breakout game for me," Johnson said. "I talked to coach, he told me just to be patient and just play." James Johnson netted 13 points and Jose Calderon collected eight and a game- high 17 assists for the Raptors, who had a lopsided 61-37 advantage in rebounds and bounced back from a 100-64 loss at Boston on Wednesday. The 61 boards were a franchise record in regulation. Toronto had 65 rebounds in an overtime game against New York back on March 21, 1999. Torontos bench scored a season-high 68 points against Washington. The team can match their road win total of last season (6) with an improbable triumph Sunday against the Heat. Raptors center Andrea Bargnani missed his 11th game of the season with a nagging calf injury. Toronto is 2-9 without Bargnani, who is out indefinitely and leads the team with 23.5 points in 13 games. The Raptors lost all four meetings with the Heat last season and are winless in the previous five contests in this series. Toronto has also lost four straight and nine of 12 trips to south Florida. Raptors forward DeMar DeRozan is averaging 16.0 points in seven career games against Miami, while James is posting 27.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.6 assists in 28 career matchups with Toronto. Wade is averaging 27.5 ppg in 21 career games in this series. Heat forward Chris Bosh said a few days ago its important for this team to make the essential adjustments following a loss. "If we lose one or two, we need to make the necessary adjustments, get it done and cut that down," Bosh told the Miami Herald. "Thats the next step." Bosh, his teammates and the coaching staff aired their grievances and offered suggestions on what they can do to make this team better after blowing a lead against Milwaukee in Wednesdays 105-97 loss. The meeting of the minds worked in a big win at PPhiladelphia Friday night and the Heat look to build off of that triumph in a Super Bowl matinee this afternoon versus Toronto. Cheap Jerseys Cyber Monday. . The New England Patriots will face the New York Giants tonight in Super Bowl XLVI. The Heat are back in south Florida following their two-day sojourn and will host both the Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers. Winners in nine of their last 11 games, the Heat recorded a 99-79 victory over the pesky 76ers at a packed Wells Fargo Center and were led by Dwyane Wades 26 points. LeBron James turned in another solid performance with 19 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists for Miami, which used a 27-8 run to start the fourth quarter and outscored the Sixers by a 32-16 margin in the final stanza. "The most important thing is that this team improved in 48 hours," Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said. "This was a very good team win against a very good team that has been playing well." Mario Chalmers and Bosh scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Mike Miller also had 12 points and Norris Cole added 11 in the win. The Heat shot 51.9 percent and aim for a fifth straight win at home Sunday. They are 10-2 as the host and own a 1 1/2-game lead over Atlanta for the top spot in the Southeast Division. Miami is 12-3 versus the Eastern Conference this season and sports a 5-0 mark against Atlantic Division inhabitants. It has won nine in a row against teams from that division during the regular season. A win today for the Heat would match their best 24-game start to a season since an 18-6 ledger in both the 1996-97 and 1998-99 campaigns. Another victory would also put them a season-high 12 games above the .500 mark. James is the best candidate to make that happen and is the only player in the NBA to average at least 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists per game. He has posted at least 15 points, five rebounds and five assists in 25 straight games, and only one other player in league history has registered those numbers in at least that many contests. Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson turned the trick on three other occasions. Robertson, named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA history in 1996, had a 26-game streak in the 1962-63 season and two years later accomplished the feat in a league-best 29 consecutive contests (1964-65). "The Big O" had a 25-gamer in the 1963-64 season. ' ' '
