Sean Averys time as a New York Ranger appears to be all but over. Cheap Cleveland Browns Jerseys . Avery cleared waivers for the second time this season on Saturday and was assigned to the Connecticut Whale of the AHL. The Rangers placed the veteran winger on waivers on Friday. Averys agent Pat Morris said there are three options for his client at this point. The first is to accept the assignment to the Rangers farm team. Avery could also sign with a KHL team and go to play in Russia. The final option Morris is exploring for Avery would be to broker a trade to another NHL team that has been decimated by injuries. The 31-year-old started the season in the AHL after failing to make the Rangers out of training camp and was recalled on Nov. 1. He amassed three goals and 21 penalty minutes in 15 games. Avery had been a healthy scratch for the Rangers last nine games before he was placed on waivers. Averys first stint with the Rangers ended in 2008 when he left as a free agent to sign a four-year, $15.5-million deal with the Dallas Stars. His stay in Dallas ended up being a short one after he made an inappropriate comment about an ex-girlfriend. Avery was suspended six games for the comment and forced to take anger management counselling. He was also virtually banished from the Stars. The Rangers ended up re-acquiring him on re-entry waivers from the Stars in March 2009 for half of his salary. Dallas is still paying the other half. His contract expires on July 1, 2012. Avery has played in 580 career NHL games socing 90 goals and 247 points. Besides his stints with the Rangers and Stars he has also spent time with the Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings.
