Year one in MLS has not brought the success that the Vancouver Whitecaps had been hoping for, but the appointment of Martin Rennie as the clubs head coach for 2012 should give the Caps fans hope that there are much more successful days ahead. cheap jerseys . It is a brave decision from the Whitecaps to go with someone without MLS experience, but Rennies track record in the lower leagues and his reputation within the game make him an excellent choice. Rennie is one of the best young coaches in North America, he holds top European coaching qualifications, and has a track record of winning. Talking to people who have worked with him, they are convinced he will easily be able to make the step up from the second division level to be successful in MLS. He is a coach who knows how to get the best out of his players and has proven to be very shrewd in quickly assembling a squad capable of achieving success. Rennie is known as a well-organized coach who asks his players to come to training every day with a positive attitude and ready to learn. In the press conference on Tuesday at Empire Field, he talked about creating a fun environment that is filled with passion for soccer and will ultimately bring success. The 36-year-old from Scotland was destined to move up to MLS in the short term and held talks with Montreal about their coaching vacancy. If he hadnt ended up with the Whitecaps, its almost certain that he would have been picked up by another MLS team in the inevitable shake up that will come this winter. It was imperative that the Whitecaps moved now in order to secure the man they think is the best person to take them forward. Rennie is a young coach, but already has plenty of experience having started coaching in his mid-twenties after injury brought a premature end to his playing career. He brings a winning attitude to Vancouver after six years of success since beginning his coaching career in 2005. He twice won the USL-2 Coach of the Year award during his time with the Cleveland City Stars. In his first season with the expansion team, they lost just one game, conceding only 13 goals in the entire season. In 2009, he stepped up to the second division level to take charge of the Carolina Railhawks, and in the last two years has completely transformed the franchise, achieving immediate success despite a complete overhaul of the roster. He guided the second division Railhawks to the NASL Conference Championship last year and has them poised for success once again this season. Rennies lack of MLS experience should not be a concern. He will have Whitecaps Director of Soccer Tom Soehn and former Chicago coach Denis Hamlett available to guide him through, and we have seen some of the leagues top coaches in recent years achieve early success in their first MLS role. Schellas Hyndman transformed Dallas from basement dwellers to perennial playoff challengers in just a couple of years after decades working as a college coach. Gary Smith won the MLS Cup with Colorado last year having not coached in the league before joining the Rapids, and Jason Kreis stepped straight from playing into a management role with Real Salt Lake and has built a formidable MLS powerhouse. The decision for Rennie to stay with the Railhawks until the end of the current season is an interesting one. He will be able to watch the Whitecaps from afar and also start planning for next season, but for getting to know his new team, there is no substitute for being on the training pitch working with players on a daily basis. That will have to wait until preseason. The Whitecaps deserve credit for moving early to avoid the inevitable speculation about the coaching position as this season draws to a close. They have positioned themselves extremely well heading into the offseason. Having a coach in position early makes a big difference. We have seen this season in Toronto the problem of appointing a coach close to the start of preseason. Aron Winters arrival in January was too late for him to assemble his squad in time for the start of the season and led to weeks of experimenting before a mid-season makeover. Rennies appointment now will give him and the Whitecaps staff plenty of time to ensure they are fully prepared for their second year in Major League Soccer. Wholesale Jerseys from china . The move is believed to make room for AHL scoring leader Ryan Strome to be added into the Islanders lineup. nfl jerseys china .
